Clio Water In Drivers Footwell

Sep 12, 2015  I had the same problem with mine. I had a big water leak, Literally causing puddles in my car, at one point I had to use big pint glasses to empty my car full of the water, Luckily it was only on the drivers side, Front + Rear. Floors were ruined. The smell was horrendous and I almost gave up on it all as it just kept coming back. On the way home today I noticed that my drivers mat and the carpet are soaked. When I got back the carpet came up and the yellow soundproofing.

I have a renault clio 1.5 dci 65 extreme which has started to leak in the passenger footwell i cannot find where the leak is coming from i heard it may be sunroof but seals seem fine i have also read that sunroofs have drainage holes that could get blocked where are they? And how do i get to them i have no idea how to remove the sunroof door seals are ok except for some water inside passenger door the smell is getting bad now like rotting veg!

Bought a Clio recently - discovered (clean) water in the drivers footwell. After much baling out and removing the sponge under the carpet, we hosed it hard with carpet folded back. There is a drain under the fan under the plastic cover at the back of the bonnet at the driver's side.

This only happens during heavy down pours can someone help me please. Also there is water running over inside trim on bottom of door. Suggested Solution - Hi i think you will find it more likely to be the sunroof here at Betta Windscreens we fix them all the time. How the water gets too the floor without a trace it falls onto the head lining and runs to the sides where it falls on to the 15mm lip on the door seal which covers the end of the headlining. It then makes its way down this lip and drops under the carpet making it hard to detect, the reason it goes under the seats is this is the lowest part of the floor pan. Next time it rains run your finger behind the lip and you will find water in this area.

Hope this is of some help. Rob (bettabob). Suggested Solution My girlfriend has a Clio 1.2 on a 51 plate with a manual sunroof. She has had a leak which pools in the front nearside headlinigs for some months. It has been in to the garage who replaced the rubber seal, however the problem continued.

I scoured the internet to try and find a solution. Having read advice similar to 'Bettabob', I removed the entire sunroof, checked the draining tubes which run through the windscreen suports. They were clear.

I then replaced the sunroof, with a generous amount of sealant between the metal of the roof itself and the plastic trough, in which the glass screen sits. However it still leaked!!! I then, removing the glass screen again, un screwed the two metal fixtures bolted to the glass that allow it to pivot.Again, having applied a generous amount of silocant sealer, I replaced the glass screen into the trough. It has been in for approx two weeks, during most of which, it has rained, and the car is totally dry!!!!!!!! Sometimes the hardest problems have the easiest solutions.

I am aware how frustrating a problem it is, so, as i'm in Staffordshire, and you'd like a hand in sorting it out,let me know.

Car Footwell

Hello, as above my Renault Clio 2 (2000)'s driver side floor is wet, I know there is lots of threads about the sunroof but the sunroof isn't leaking, in heavy rain I would also get a little water in the passengers side roof (by the sunvisor), I hear something about tubes being bloked or something, could someone give me a bit of a clearer picture?? If it's anything like my Citeron they are talking about the drain holes that run from the sunroof down inside the door of your car. Some heavy gauge wire should clear it (although mine are clear and my car still gets wet, both front seats too!). On my 99 Clio I had wet carpets in the front and back, and found a load of water in the boot where the tyre is kept, which explained the sloshing noise it used to make going round corners.

I traced it back to a missing plastic plug around the inside of the rear window/boot lid. If memory serves it was about half way down on the left and side, about level with the parcel shelf. I squirted a little silicon sealer into the hole, drained the water out the boot and it was fine after that. Until the cambelt snapped on the motorway, that is.:eek. Hey Sylvia, I may have a solution for your problem. I had a Renault Megane and had exactly the same problem which did turn out to be the tubes that run from the Sunroof- the fix doesn't involve sticking things down the tubes though.

A common problem is that mud and dirt block up the very bottom of the tube, behind the bodywork. For my Megane all I had to do was remove a bit of plastic in the wheel arch with a screwdriver and pull all the mud and dirt out, it took about 15 minutes and never flooded again. Now I know yours is a Clio and it may not be the same as the Megane but I would recommend trying this first, as it was very easy. I hope this helps! Thanks, I'll tell the mechanic when Iget it serviced and ask him to do it, save me the bother!! Everything you described has happened to me, in a Clio (and Rover) To help OP. The water thing happened with my Rover. The garage 'claim' the rubber sealing is prone to getting tiny pin holes in it, so when it rains it comes in. The other ideas in this thread seem a good starting point, my garage ended up charging me 300 pounds to get it sorted.:rolleyes.
