The PlayStation TV is a niche within a niche, and there’s always been some confusion about what PS Vita, PSP, PS One, and PS Mobile games will actually run on the system. Combining SIEA’s outdated “official” list on PSN to the fact that compatibility can very depending on what region the game came from, it’s just a bit mess of confusion for most.
Not to mention that the PSTV gets updates and new information every few days, while many people think nothing’s been made compatible for months. The team over at Vita Player is working hard to keep people in Europe updated with a available on the micro-console. Just as their team did, I began this list for North America game compatibility, but also include a large number of Japanese and Asia-region games as well.

Due to confusion in the past, I would like to clarify that this list contains games that will work on the PlayStation TV -without- using hacks or exploits. I do not include games that will only work if you hack your system, so all of these games will work on a unit that is right out of the box. Before going onto the actual list, there is one thing I’d like to get out there. I’ve been questioned a lot lately on Twitter, being asked for sources for my updates. So, I’d like to take a moment to tell you how I find this information. There are basically 3 main methods to find out compatibility information that I use. They are as follows:.
I email the publishers for every PS Vita release, inquiring about PSTV Compatibility, and much of the time, get the answers straight from them. Box Art often will have a logo on the front, confirming PSTV Compatibility in North America, while most compatible Japanese games will have a PS Vita TV logo on the back of the box. Official Websites for many games will include the PSTV/PS Vita TV in the product section where it lists what platforms a game is coming to. And, of course, I also have my own personal testing and the countless community resources that give me a hand. But, that should give you an idea of how I get the info, and how much time I put into this list for the fun of it.
I go on hour-long hunts through websites, GameFAQs Release Date Lists, and Play-Asia’s entire PS Vita database every few days, trying to find this info out. Pingback:. It’s the release of the game that matters, not the release of your PSTV. The Vita, just like the PSTV, is a region free console, which means it can play any game from any region. The difference between the Vita and the PSTV is that the latter has system-defined limitations as to what games can be played on it. The short answer is I don’t know for sure since I don’t own a copy of J-Stars Victory Vs from any region, including Japan. A short google search seems to indicate a patch was released to make it compatible, and afaik all patches from all region games are downloadable to any PSTV.
Also, this site lists it as compatible: If you have both I don’t see why you didn’t try it already yourself, and confirm it for the list. Also after doing a short search myself I can’t confirm that Japan ever got the “+” version of the game only other regions.
I dont have an HDMI TV. Is it possible to just get an HDMI 2 AV adaptor to make it work on a Standard Definition TV? I saw that the Playstation TV has 480p available, and got people like “Pffwhy even bother having 480p”, and I was all like “Well, because if an HDMI 2 AV would work then it could be for those who dont have an HDMI TV”.Alsodo I have to hook it up to an HDMI TV first, because I heard something about HDCP and is that a problem OR is that for people who want to capture the screen.in which I have no plans to do, I just want to play it on my Standard TV. I bought a Semlos HDMI2AV adapter from Amazon to hook up to an old CRT.
It did work, and you can even power the adapter off the PSTV USB port. Unfortunately, there is no way to change aspect ratio. So if you use it with 4:3 TV, everything is stretched vertically. Kinda annoying. Even more annoying with PS1 games, as they will have black bars on the side and be stretched vertically! If you have a non-HDMI HDTV/EDTV, then the aspect ratio should be fine, but you won’t actually be getting a 480p signal it will be output in 480i. You might be better off with a DVI or VGA adapter if that’s what your TV supports, but I have no experience with these.
I don’t know much about HDCP, but I think it applies more to movies than games. If you just plan to use it for games, I doubt it will be an issue. Pingback:. This is a brutal list. I own just over 30 physical copies of PS Vita games, and about half of them won’t work with PSTV. Looks like I’ll be doing the whitelist hack. Ok, so I bought a physical copy of The Sly Cooper Collection and when I tried to play it, it said it was incompatible. I looked online to confirm this. My firmware got updated recently and I’m now on the PSN store and it’s saying that I can purchase it.
Does this mean that it is compatible now, or does it just mean that I can buy it to download on a Vita because I don’t have a Vita and half the reason I bought a PS TV was for the collection. I would test this myself, but I returned the game to GameStop and so I no longer have it. I’m going through my PSTV and Vita games once again, glad to see this list and the non-compatible list are still going strong. I noticed Rayman Origins isn’t listed, but it does work on PSTV.
