For a new player, I would suggest choosing the 'more signals and camo' since you would be lacking those. You could choose credits, but I don't think it's worth it IMO.

The consumable option is also nice if you always use premium consumables (hint: always mount premium damage control and premium repair party, use the credits option, not the dubloon option) since it would save you a lot of money. I suggest you start using premium consumables starting at T5(they can be bought using credits, don't worry). The try your luck option is really only for players who have no need for the fist three options. The free experience is in the top right corner circled in yellow.

The ship experience is circled in red. This image shows the conversation of ship experience to free. One doubloon (premium currancy you have to pay real money to get) will convert 25 ship experience over to free experience. Free experience can be used anywhere. Ship exprience can only be used on that ship to unlock upgrades and the next ship. I have never converted ship exprience to free experience.

I consider it a waste. What container should you pick when you earn enough to get one? Whatever you're low on. Flags are useful, silver is useful, and camo is useful for new players. I would say the least useful for a new player are consumables and 'try your luck.' Me personally? I always do 'try your luck.'

It increases your chances by a very small percent, like 1-3% to get a super container (you still have a chance to get a super container in the other options). What's a super container? It's a container that holds a bigger prize.

Could be a premium ship (never got one out of my thousands of games), could be a lot of a single flag, like the dragon flag (dragon flag gives an additional 333% more experience to your captain after the battle). But I do 'try your luck' because I don't need silver, flags, camo, modules, etc. I just want a free premium ship:p It's never happened though.

Of my six (soon to be seven) premiums, three (soon 4) were free. These cover the general spectrum of how-you-get-free-premiums. Albany: Wargaming tends to give away a free low-tier premium for their anniversary and Christmas. These are generally rather weak, and some later get buffed (like Albany), but generally most sell them for the port slots. I had enough slots for my needs and will buy more when they go on sale eventually, so I kept mine and, while I occasionally play her, she is one of the least-used ships in my port.

Aurora: Occasionally, Wargaming will give out promotional codes to various companies or individuals. Usually, these are invite codes that can only be used with new accounts, but rarely they are bonus codes any player can use. Even more rarely, these are actually ships: most of the time its a couple days of premium. Marblehead: Rarely, WOWs will have contests that give out premiums. Most are typically be-the-best-in-X-category and thus are unlikely for you to win. However, in this case, there was a once-in-a-blue-moon song lyrics contest where every entry earned the ship. It took a month for all 700+ entrants to get their ships, so don't expect a similar situation again, but they might try a new variant and give out a limited-use-code like for conventions.

Mikasa: WOT has a series of missions where you can earn free tanks. WOWs has just started including those, and Mikasa was the first. Earn 150 kills in any mode but Co-op and earn the only Pre-Dreadnought left in the world. I'm 16 away, in part because of how relatively little I get to play due to work and other responsibilities. The contest ends this weekend, but more will come: if you earn Rank 1 two season in a row you get a free premium, currently Flint, and the Arpeggio missions should return Soon TM.
